Joey Biederman

Founder/Teacher

The journey to being a Pilates instructor is unique to each teacher. For Joey Biederman, it started for a very simple reason. She hurt.

She was not willing to surrender to a life of pain. She tried Pilates with hopes of healing herself. In it she found a movement practice that strengthened, aligned and calmed her body and mind, easing her pain.

At Cara Reeser’s studio, Pilates Aligned, she found a family and a calling. Movement is not just a profession for Joey, It is a foundational stone in her life philosophy. A philosophy she has honed over 26 years of practice and more than 19 years of teaching Pilates in the Denver area.

Joey is always a student first. She believes in the science of movement. She has and continues to spend countless hours immersed in learning about all things movement, body and brain.

She believes teaching a practitioner is a very personal relationship. She creates a supportive environment and unique sessions for each of her clients based on their goals and needs. Joey uses manual, pilates and other techniques to help her clients ease tensions so they can find their movement potential. This builds confidence and improves function which, as Joey has learned, transforms all aspects of life.

Jodi Brinkman

Jodi is originally from Buffalo, New York and received her BFA in Musical Theatre at the State University of New York at Fredonia. She has worked as a professional singer/actress in New York, Cleveland, and Denver. Fitness was always apart of her life, but never had movement made more sense than her first Pilates mat class. Being able to organize and think about the body as a whole, from breath to alignment to coordinating movements of the skeleton made sense.

Jodi was trained to teach Pilates from Balanced Body’s Master teacher Troy McCarty, owner of White Cloud Studios in Cleveland Ohio in 2007. She first began teaching Pilates in January of 2008 at the Cleveland Jewish Community Center. There she helped the JCC begin a brand new equipment based Pilates program, which is still thriving today. With the mountains calling her, she moved her practice to Denver in April of 2010, where she worked in several facilities, until she landed at Pilates Aligned in 2014 with her mentor Cara Reeser. There she was educated in the Kathy Grant lineage of teaching, which involved rehabilitating clients in pain using the theory that “one size does not fit all”. Building on that principle, Jodi has come to use the Pilates exercises and other movement modalities to accommodate her clients of all ages, both in privates and classes. She is also trained on the CoreAlign system, and loves teaching older populations to move better.

When not teaching Pilates, Jodi continues educating herself to be a better teacher of movement. She also loves to hike beautiful Colorado, run, and most of all be in her garden.

Jeni Jesse

Jeni started doing Pilates 16 years ago in San Francisco and quickly realized how much she enjoyed this body of movement and exercise.  She began studying to teach Pilates in 2008 with Sharon Gallagher and Carol LeMaitre. In 2014 she went on to complete the Advanced Teacher Training Program at The Pilates Center remotely under the guidance of her long-time teachers; Aura Fischbeck, Susanne Staehr and Erika Groff.  She also completed the Kathy Grant Heritage Training under the tutelage of Cara Reeser the same year.  She’s been teaching in San Francisco and Mill Valley, California ever since.

During the summers she would come to Denver to be near family, spend time enjoying the amazing outdoors with her son and teach at Pilates Aligned. She has just returned to Denver to live after being away for 30 years! Jeni is excited to share her love of the Pilates method and the organic and intuitive work of Kathy Grant by helping people on their Pilates journey. Jeni enjoys helping others transform their bodies and creating lasting positive effects in their daily lives.

When not teaching Pilates Jeni is either learning more about the body and mind through movement and courses or hiking the many mountains here or working on her new home in Park Hill.
